Generations of Great Taste!

Beemster is proud to present our Master Cheesemakers as the ambassadors of our unique taste:

Three cheesemakers, one passion: Beemster

Master Cheesemaker Cees (age 61) – a title you may deserve after more than 25 years of experience in making The Original Dutch Cheese. Born and raised in the Beemster polder in North Holland. Keeper of all the secret recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation of local cheesemakers. As a Master Cheesemaker he is responsible for maintaining the highest quality: “That’s why I’m a man of patience. Only I decide when the Beemster cheese smells, tastes and feels perfect and is ready to leave the historic warehouse.
Taste just takes time!”.

Cheesemaker Piet (age 42) – born on a Beemster farm, as a descendent of the first dairy farmers that milked their cows in the quiet, canal lined pastures of the so called Beemster polder, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. He cycles to work every day: “Making Beemster cheese is not a job but a passion. As a farmer’s son I know how important it is to make sustainable products. With the ‘green’ Caring Dairy program Beemster works closely with icemaker Ben & Jerry’s. Together we aim for happy cows, happy farmers and a happy planet. And last but not least: great cheese!”.

Junior Cheesemaker Klaas (age 23) – his father and uncle are also Beemster cheesemakers. So the apple didn’t fall far from the tree: “In the tradition of my family, I learned all about the history and artisan techniques of Beemster. Now I handcraft each wheel of cheese with the same love and care as my father and uncle do. One day I hope to be the Master Cheesemaker of Beemster. So I can win my own gold medals with our award winning taste!”.
